How To: Apply Highlighter for a Glowing Face

Adding a little extra glow to your make-up look can make a big difference. One of the easiest ways to do that? With a highlighter! We’ve included a ModelCo Baked Highlighter in every April Birchbox x Cath Kidston – and you can choose your shade! Here are seven ways to wear it for a dewy glow – without overdoing it.

Beth, Lauren and Mica are wearing the shade Moonshine – a glistening caramel with a hint of golden shimmer.

1. Cheekbones
Swirl an angled brush over the ModelCo Baked Highlighter and dust directly onto the tops of your cheekbones – starting just above the fleshy apples of your cheeks and sweeping upwards towards the ends of your brows.

2. Bridge of the nose
When applying highlighter, focus on the high points of your face for the most natural glow. After all, this is where your skin naturally catches the light! Use a small eyeshadow brush, or your fingertips, to apply a small amount of highlighter directly down the bridge of your nose.

3. Brow bones
Up your brow game and illuminate those arches with a little highlighter beneath your brows. Focus on the mid-point of your brow, where they should start to naturally arch, to help them look extra defined.

4. Corner of the eyes
Using your index finger, press a small amount of highlighter into the inner corner of your eyes – close to your tear duct. This will instantly brighten up your eye area and will help you to look more awake when you’re feeling tired.

Beth, Lauren and Mica are wearing the shade Frose – a pearlescent petal pink for a rosy shine.

5. Centre of the eyelid
Whether you’re rocking bare lids or a full-on smokey eye, pressing a small amount of highlighter into the very centre of your lids will finish your look perfectly. Not only does it add a little glossiness but it will make your eyes look bigger too!

6. Cupid’s bow
Skip the lip liner and define your lips with a dusting of highlighter along your cupid’s bow – just above your top lip where it curves downwards. It’s a subtle trick that will really help your lip colour to pop.

7. Centre of the lips
This is a serious beauty insider’s tip! It might sound odd to wear a powder on your lips but, once you’ve applied your lipstick, push a tiny amount of highlighter onto the centre of your bottom lip. It will add another dimension to your lips and make your pout look fuller. Mwah!
