Stylist Alexandra Stedman works for Red magazine and runs her own fabulous blog, The Frugality. We caught up with her for another Morning, Noon & Night feature, to find out all about her make-up avoidance and daily beauty routine, as well as those occasional treatments that keep her feeling tip top!
I am not a morning person, so the quicker the better, usually. I’m quite loyal to Liz Earle products though – as an adult acne sufferer, I find their products work well for my skin. I use the Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, the Skin Repair Moisturiser and have recently discovered Ushvani’s Coconut & Kemiri Cleansing Milk which is great at removing rogue eye make-up.
For my hair, I love Percy & Reed‘s products. I have worked with Adam Reed many times before and he just ‘gets it’. Shu Uemura’s Protective Hair Oil is amazing to help my split ends and coloured/damaged hair. I am in the process of growing out my hair to see my natural colour – watch this space!
I hate wearing make-up, so tinted moisturiser fits my lifestyle. I love the NARS one, and Benefit’s The POREfessional reduces the shine. And on the weekends, I tend to use Vichy Idealia Life Serum as a base under my powder for a healthy glow.
Pamper treatments include my Margaret Dabbs Intensive Treatment Foot Oil, which smells and feels amazing, pedicures at Cowshed Spa – or DIY pedis using Essie nail polish – and I am about to try the famous Illuminator Facial at Dr Prager. I always bring back a Perfumeria Gal lipbalm whenever I go to Spain and my Aussie friend always keeps me well stocked in Lucas Paw Paw – I’m addicted to lip balm, and often feel tense if it isn’t in my handbag! I usually have a eyeliner felt tip pen in my make-up bag (this one from Collection) to add a feline flick if I’m going out after work.
I wash my face as soon as I get in at night and to relax I enjoy chamomile tea, which has really helped me with my sleep (I suffer from night terrors). Before bed I use Liz Earle’s Superskin Concentrate – which smells incredible and helps me to relax. As I’m now in my 30s, I have just started using Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream too. Fingers crossed it works!
