Your Spot-Fighting Skincare Routine

We’re huge advocates for having fun with beauty – after all, life’s too short to not experiment with new formulas and exciting brands. However, when it comes to skincare, it might be time to get a little more serious – particularly if you’re battling breakouts or shiny T-zones. Enter: Sebamed. An instant hit amongst Birchbox customers who have tried it, their products fight skin issues without irritation and maintain the perfect pH for healthy skin – great if your complexion is generally problem-free! Here’s our intro to the brand and where to start…

Set a Routine
When you’re faced with unwanted pimples and sore spots, it’s understandable that you want to see results straight away. However, our best advice is to stay consistent with your routine and to remain patient – it can take up to 6 weeks to start seeing changes in your skin. Look for oil-free formulas (everything in the Sebamed collection or is) or products containing salicylic acid or kaolin. Also, be mindful that anything that comes into contact with your face is also a potential breeding ground for acne bacteria. So be sure to clean your mobile phone with disinfectant wipes, regularly change your pillow cases, and keep your hands clean – the state of your face might depend on it!

Choose Products Wisely
An acne routine, no matter how consistent, is only as good as its products. You’ll need a power cleanser and a twice (or thrice) weekly scrub to slough away pore-clogging dead skin cells. The Sebamed Clear Face Cleansing Bar is a great fuss-free daily cleanser that’s particularly good if you like the feeling of old fashioned soap and water – without stripping your skin. For targeted treatments, nothing works better than Sebamed Clear Face Anti-Pimple Gel which combats breakouts with a one-two punch of witch hazel and chloroxylenol to reduce redness and inflammation.

Don’t Forget to Moisturise
Lightweight moisturisers are almost as essential as cleansers (or maybe more, the jury is still out) because after all the washes and masks, your skin needs a bit of hydration. Try the Sebamed Clear Face Mattifying Cream which regulates sebum production to keep excess oil at bay – and doubles as a brilliant base for your make-up!
