Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow – Celebs Are Making Big Changes, Are You?

Autumn means all change in the beauty world, and celebrities have not disappointed by showcasing their new hair looks all over the internet. BBx contributing writer Natalie Peck is inspired by all the new ‘dos and asks: are you ready to make a change?

All of us can relate to the need for a fresh start. Make-up and clothes can be swapped out, but sometimes you just want something more permanent – this is when I usually want to reach for the scissors and give myself a Millie Mackintosh inspired fringe. Social media is awash with pictures of celebs showing off new haircuts and colours at the moment, whether it’s refreshing an old style or showing off an entirely new one. It’s hard to keep up, so here’s my rundown of the freshest looks for inspiration:

Style favourite Jessica Alba freshened up her mid-lengths with a trim last week, removing her old coloured tips, but couldn’t resist delving back into ombre a few days later. Mixing old and new can be a great way to update your look – try freshening up your current colour but branching out into a drastic cut, or vice versa.

Hair adventurer Cheryl Cole followed suit by displaying her newly ombred locks on Instagram. I’ve always been a fan of Cheryl’s long chestnut locks – and hated her foray into purple hair – but there’s no denying she’s not afraid to make bold decisions and is muse for those stuck in a style rut. Plus ombre is a great choice for updating your look without completing altering your colour.

Sometimes a trip down memory lane can keep you looking current. Lily Allen, who is returning to the music scene after a child-rearing sabbatical, live-tweeted her cut and colour to return her fringed bob to its former glory. Why not scan through old pictures to find a forgotten favourite that really suited you?

And if you’re not feeling all that brave (and let’s face it, who hasn’t come out of the hairdressers after a drastic change and panicked?) there are plenty of go-to options to spruce up your look – try the faux bob Claire Danes rocked at the Emmys by tucking and pinning your lengths.

With or without commitment, change is good. Are you planning any daring hair looks this season?
