5 Things To Do In August

This month, we’re all about encouraging you to Live A Life Beautiful – in whatever way works for you. To give you a little helping hand on the inspiration front, here’s five things that we’re excited to try in August…

With the end of Love Island leaving a Jack-and-Dani-shaped hole in our hearts, we’re in desperate need of a new show to binge. Fortunately, the hilarious and heartbreaking Orange Is The New Black is back with a 6th season on Netflix. (The first 5 are also available if you’re not up to date or just fancy a rewatch.) If you didn’t catch it in the cinema, Bridget Jones’s Baby will also be coming to the platform this month for a dose of Mr Darcy – with the added bonus of Grey’s Anatomy’s McDreamy! And if you still need your fix, there’s always Love Island seasons 1 and 2…

Art galleries are the coolest place to be this summer – literally! They have to maintain a temperature of 21°C to keep those precious paintings safe, meaning they’re the best place for you to escape that heatwave while taking in some culture. There are some awesome things to see this August: moonwalk through the National Portrait Gallery’s Michael Jackson exhibition in London or take a breather with Manchester Art Gallery’s Mindfulness collection. Whether you’re in it for the art or the air con, check out what’s on in your area for an inspiring, cultural and sweat-free summer activity!

Sick of burgers, buns, and barbecues? Why not refresh your repertoire with some new recipes. Incredible cookbook The Roasting Tin: Simple One Dish Dinners is ideal for those long and lazy August days – just throw fresh ingredients in a tin and let the oven do the work! Plus, there’s a veggie and vegan version, too. Or with the return of Bake Off later this month, you might fancy giving baking a go. From elaborate pavlovas to quick microwave mug cakes, have a look through our Pinterest for some inspo!

This month we’ve been totally inspired by our creative collaborators from Etsy to get a little crafty ourselves. We’re loving these easy peasy DIY face mask ideas for the ultimate at-home spa day – with ingredients you’ll find in your fridge! Or why not skip the salon and try your hand at nail art? Stencils are perfect for creating cool geometric patterns that are ideal for summer. If crafting’s more your thing, we’ve come up with two ways to reuse your July box – glue guns at the ready!

Finally, get ready to Live A Life Beautiful with the August Birchbox. This month we’ve teamed up with Etsy to produce 10 different boxes designed by different sellers, each more gorgeous than the last! From floral prints to sugary treats, we’re obsessed with these unique designs. With two full-size products worth £25.40 in every box, be sure to get yours now if you haven’t already.
