We’ve absolutely loved soaking up the sunny weather this summer – so much so that we never want it to end! While we can’t promise blue skies forever, we can definitely help to brighten up the indoors. It’s time bring that sunshine in and banish those post-holiday blues. Inspired by our collaboration with Etsy this August, we’ve decided to get a bit creative ourselves and come up with 5 different ways to brighten up your home that are totally fuss-free yet super effective.
Adding plants to your home is a really easy way to add vibrancy and a pop of colour – and they’re a particularly great option if you’re renting and can’t paint the walls or hang prints. Struggle to keep a cactus alive? Don’t panic! Snake Plants are ideal as they require minimum watering and sunlight and, quite literally, breathe new life into the room. If you’re looking for something a little smaller, an Aloe Vera plant is perfect to brighten up the kitchen. Plus, you can reap the natural benefits of its skin-loving gel – bonus!
Grab a Colourful Print
Nothing adds life and character to a room like colourful artwork, and it doesn’t have to be pricey! Instead of spending a small fortune on an oil canvas, why not have a browse through Etsy? We’re loving these modern and on-trend prints from The Lovely Drawer – one of our collaborators this month. They’re totally gorgeous and will go with any decor. For your very own original piece, there’s also the option to completely personalise your print!
Upgrade Your Diary
Home admin can be super time consuming and oh-so-dull. From work to appointments to meal plans, keeping on top of everything without covering the house top to bottom in post-it notes is no mean feat. To keep things simple and bright, we’ve upgraded ours with these beautiful notebooks, planners and calendars from Constance and Clay. Not only do they add a touch of colour to our walls and brighten up our desks, we love planning our weeks on those cute floral designs!
Add Some Sparkle
We all know that mirrors can make a room seem bigger, but their light reflecting properties can brighten a space up, too. In fact, anything with a bit of shine and sparkle is ideal for a beautifully bright and airy home – think reflective photo frames, glittery candle holders, glass vases. If it reflects light, it’ll keep your home bright. The shinier the better!
Scatter Cushions and Throws
One of the easiest ways to instantly brighten up your home is with colourful textiles. Cushions, throws and rugs can absolutely transform a grey living room or dull sofa! We are particularly loving these jungle-inspired cushions from Ambers Textiles to add a touch of the outdoors to the lounge, and the absolutely scrumptious designs from The Fox in the Attic are perfect for the kids’ room – why not mix and match?!
